The RAINY Season

Alan here. It is the rainy season here. When discussing the weather in Yola, I was told there are two seasons. The 'hot and dry' season and the 'rainy and hot' season.

We've seen several impressive rain storms since we've been here, so I decided this morning to again take some pictures on the way to work while it was raining.

This first couple of pictures are as we pulled away from the gate of our house and headed up the road.

And this isn't a particularly heavy storm. It might even be considered high humidity relatively speaking.

I also wanted to get some shots of the town on the way in to AUN. Some of them are better then others.

I don't know if it came out very well, but I mostly liked the color of this kids shoes.

On the way to work we pass the medical center which is pretty large. I've been told it's very well equipped, but I hope to never have need of it's services.

Finally, here are a couple of pictures of AUN. There are two campuses -- the main campus whose entrance you see here --

And the North campus adjacent to the K-12 AUN schools. My offices are on the north campus.

Here's one of the other buildings on the north campus. Obviously this picture was taken on a different day.

And finally for today's post, here are pictures of my executive assistant Aisha and her sister as well as my little office.

Have an awesome Nigerian day!

  1. looks just like south africa! when it would rain there, the dirt roads would make rivers in the street.

  2. I hope you don't mind my commenting. We really had a bad experience in Nigeria as we lived in Port Harcourt and our daughters went to boarding school in Jos. We were there for over a year and a half before my husband was shot and our house robbed even though we did not have much. We never really healed from that experience so I appreciate the photo's and the perspective you present. I wish you well and will be praying for your safe keeping!
